In Waima and at Woodlands Park School there is a strong community spirit. Aikido as a non-aggressive, non-competitive Martial Art is a perfect enhancement to this spirit.
Aikido was created by Morihei Ueshiba (植芝 盛平 Ueshiba Morihei, 14 December 1883–26 April 1969), referred to by some aikido practitioners as Ōsensei ("Great Teacher").[6] Ueshiba envisioned aikido not only as the synthesis of his martial training, but also an expression of his personal philosophy of universal peace and reconciliation. During Ueshiba's lifetime and continuing today, aikido has evolved from the Aiki that Ueshiba studied into a wide variety of expressions by martial artists throughout the world.
Our Dojo, located in Woodlands park at the heart of the Waitakeres, is run by local residents and has the community’s wellbeing at heart.
Our aim is to teach this beautiful Japanese Martial Art in accordance with the guidelines of the World Aikikai Federation. To be respectful of the Japanese culture and its customs. Incorporating our own “down to earth” Kiwi approach to life. To reflect who we are as people.
The adults will be grading at the Hombu Dojo of Aikido Shinryukan in Mt. Eden, on the 10th of December
Our children's grading will be held on the 15th of December at the Waima Dojo,...
